Trade Partner Spotlight: Frymoyer Stone

Bettendorf, Iowa · Custom cut stone fabrication

Good masonry restoration doesn't happen without good stone. And in the Quad Cities, when we need custom cut limestone done right, we go to Frymoyer Stone.

Frymoyer is a family-owned stone fabricator based in Bettendorf, specializing in custom cut Indiana limestone — balusters, piers, caps, sills, coping, and replication work for historic restoration. They run in-house fabrication out of a climate-controlled warehouse with over 100 years of combined masonry experience behind them. For us, that means shop drawings that hold up, profiles that actually match the original, and pieces that show up on site ready to set.

Where you've seen their work on TNT projects:

  1. Iowa City Senior Center — Frymoyer fabricated the replacement limestone balusters, piers, and top rails around the parapet. This was the largest single component of the project — and the project that just earned a Historic Preservation Award from the Iowa City Historical Preservation Commission. The finished piers look like they've always been there. That's the goal.
  2. Linn County Courthouse — On this 1925 Beaux-Arts landmark on May's Island in Cedar Rapids, Frymoyer supplied replacement balustrades, pier stones, and caps in high-grade Indiana limestone. Every piece had to match the color, texture, and carved profile of the original fabric — no room for "close enough" on a century-old courthouse.

Why this matters to our clients

On historic work, the finished look is only as good as the stone that goes in the wall. A great mason can't cover for a bad piece of stone, and a beautiful piece of stone can't cover for bad masonry. You need both. Frymoyer is one of the reasons we can say yes to complicated stone replacement scopes — and stand behind the result.

If you're an architect, owner, or GC working on a historic or stone-heavy project, they're worth a call.
