FAQs
What are the growth opportunities at TNT?
We are a merit-based company, so your growth is tied directly to your skill development, certifications earned, and performance on the job. Team members can advance into crew lead roles, earn instructor-level safety and trade certifications, and develop specialized expertise in areas like historic preservation or stone restoration.
What safety training does TNT provide?
We have FRACO certified instructors and scaffolding safety instructors on staff, meaning your safety training comes from people who teach these programs at an instructor level. Safety certification is not a box to check here; it is a core part of your professional development.
What does training look like for new hires?
New hires learn through hands-on field training alongside experienced crew members combined with structured certification programs. You begin contributing on job sites immediately while building the technical knowledge and safety credentials that define our team members. Off-season months are when training activity ramps up significantly.
What benefits does TNT offer?
We offer health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, a 401(k) with a profit-sharing plan, and a supplemental unemployment plan. For the most current details on compensation and additional perks, contact us directly or review our current job postings.
Does TNT provide tools and equipment?
Yes. We provide the tools, equipment, and materials required for the job. We invest in the right equipment so our crews can work safely and efficiently on every project.
What is the travel expectation?
Travel is a standard part of working here. Our crews are based in eastern Iowa and travel to job sites throughout Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Illinois. The typical schedule is Monday through Thursday with a half-day Friday, so crews are generally home for weekends.
Is TNT union or non-union?
We are a merit-based, non-union contractor. Advancement and compensation are based on your skill, certifications earned, and performance.
What certifications can I earn working at TNT?
Team members can earn FRACO swing stage certifications, scaffolding safety instructor credentials, lime putty restoration certifications, stone patching training credentials, deck coatings and sealant replacement certifications, air barrier installation certifications, and product certifications from manufacturers like US Heritage, Sika, Tremco, and Prosoco. These are real, portable trade credentials that stay with you.
Does TNT offer apprenticeships or training programs?
Yes. We develop our people through hands-on field training alongside experienced crew members, manufacturer-led product training, and formal certification programs. We have team members who started with no masonry experience and built full careers here.
What does a typical work week look like?
The typical schedule is Monday through Thursday with a half-day Friday, averaging around 45 hours per week. Our primary working season runs from mid-February through the end of November, with work performed on commercial job sites across Iowa and surrounding states. Travel to project locations is standard, and some work can happen outside the primary season, including caulking replacement, interior repairs, and work inside heated enclosures.
Do I need masonry experience to apply at TNT?
No prior masonry experience is required. We invest heavily in training and will develop the right candidate from the ground up. What matters most is work ethic, reliability, and a willingness to learn a skilled trade.
