UWEC Health and Science Building
Staining the patterned block wall on the UWEC Health and Science Building, Eau Claire, WI.

On patterned block, stain has to reach every face and edge to read as one color.
The Health and Science Building at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire is a new campus building with a large wall of patterned concrete block. Projecting units create a raised texture across the whole face of the wall.
We stained the block during construction in the fall of 2025, working from scaffolding and a lift. Masonry stain soaks into the block instead of sitting on top like paint, so it won't peel or trap moisture behind a film.
On a patterned wall, the stain has to reach every face and edge of the projecting units evenly. That's what makes the finished wall read as one consistent color.
This is the kind of work we do on schools and campuses across Wisconsin.
