Muscatine County Courthouse
Tuckpointing, stone patching and caulking up to the clock tower, 2024.

Access is half the job on a clock tower.
The Muscatine County Courthouse stands at 401 East 3rd Street in Muscatine, Iowa. In 2024, Muscatine County brought TNT in for masonry repairs on a plan by Horizon Architecture.
The hardest part was access. Our crews built scaffolding up to the clock tower, then worked through tuckpointing, stone patching, caulking replacement and painting. The project ran from mid-August to the end of November 2024.
Our shop in Stockton is also in Muscatine County.

The Problem
Muscatine County hired TNT in August 2024 for repairs to the masonry on its courthouse, working from a plan by Horizon Architecture. The plan called for tuckpointing, stone patching and caulking replacement, and much of that work sat high on the building, up to the clock tower.
Our Approach
From August 12 to November 29, 2024, TNT crews put up scaffolding on the courthouse, from the roof up to the clock tower. They tuckpointed the masonry, patched damaged stone, replaced failed caulking and handled the painting with a painting subcontractor.
A change order added painting and caulking of a window on the northwest elevation, which was finished by early December 2024.
