Emmanuel Lutheran Church at 308 4th Avenue in Grafton is a historic sandstone church with a crenellated bell tower.

Sandstone is softer than it looks. It weathers faster than most stone, and the wrong mortar or patching material can damage it. Repairs have to be made with materials that suit the stone.

We restored the sandstone with cleaning, stone patching, tuckpointing and new sealants, keeping the church's historic character and closing it up against the weather.
