Library looks good after a little nip and tuck

TNT Tuckpointing was proud to complete the first full repointing of the Maquoketa Public Library — a historic Carnegie library built in 1904 and one of only 48 in Iowa still serving its original purpose. Over its 120-year history, mortar repairs had been done in patches with inconsistent materials. Our team performed a complete repointing of the original building along with chimney repairs, restoring both the structural integrity and appearance of this community landmark.
The project was partially funded through a $30,000 grant from the Iowa Historical Society's Historical Resource Development Program — one of the larger awards given that fiscal year.
The Maquoketa Sentinel-Press covered the project in a December 2021 column highlighting the importance of routine masonry maintenance for historic public buildings.
