The Problem
A speeding car jumped the curb at Chateau Knoll, leveled the monument sign, and slammed directly into one of the buildings. It was far more than just a masonry issue—the vehicle severed the gas meter and destroyed the main electrical service box, creating an immediate nightmare for the property team.
Between the gas hazard, the total loss of power, and a physically unstable structure, firefighters were forced to evacuate the residents on the spot. Property Manager Bryan Tank called TNT to lead the emergency response, requiring a rapid, full-scope structural repair of the primary brick facade. We needed to stabilize the wall and prepare for a seamless restoration—including brick replacement and tuckpointing—under extreme time constraints to ensure the building's stability and restore its curb appeal.
Our Approach
Because we’ve worked with Bryan for over 15 years, there was no "feeling out" process or long bidding delay. He called, and we headed straight there with one goal: take the pressure off his team.
- Triage and Safety: When we arrived, it was a mess of active gas leaks and high-voltage risks. We coordinated directly with MidAmerican Energy to secure the gas line and assessed the damage alongside city building officials.
- Rapid Stabilization: We didn't wait. We called in structural engineers for shoring guidance and had the building stabilized that same day so it wouldn't move any further.
- Team Coordination: We helped connect the client with Shaw Electric to handle the massive power reroute and worked with their preferred carpenters on the framing.
Moving from Crisis to Recovery: Instead of a month of planning, we used our local connections to make decisions and secure city approvals in real time.
Project Results
This project was a reminder that our work is about more than just bricks and mortar—it's about people’s homes and safety. We were able to:
- Stabilize the entire structure within the first 24 hours.
- Restore electrical power quickly, reducing the time residents were displaced.
- Turn a high-stress emergency into a controlled repair project.
For us, the real "result" was showing up for a client who has trusted us for a decade and a half. It wasn't just about the repair; it was about steadying the ship when things went sideways.
